Susanna Blinds and Curtains Ltd - Terms and Conditions (valid from 12/08/2024)

It is important that I clarify expectations before an order is agreed. Please take some time to read the following terms and conditions. Should you have any questions or queries regarding them please do not hesitate to contact me.

1. At Home Consultation – When this service level is chosen, an initial consultation is used to understand and agree the scope of the work, provide design advice, and take accurate window measurements to be able to provide bespoke products. At the point of order, a full specification will be provided to you and should be checked thoroughly for completeness.

2. Made For You Service – My Made For You service involves no at home consultation and whilst I provide full guidance on how to take accurate measurements, full responsibility for their accuracy sits with the customer. Any errors in measurement that result in the need to alter or remake the items will incur a cost up to the full initial cost.

3. Quote - A full quote is provided which shows the overall cost of each item to be provided.. Quotes are valid for 30 days and may be subject to change based on final fabric and design choices. After this time, a new quote may have to be provided.

4. Deposit - A deposit of at least 50% of the agreed quote is required to secure your order. This will be agreed at the point of order. Payment can be made by bank transfer or cheque (please allow 4 weeks additional time for cheque clearance) the details for which will be included on your deposit invoice. All orders are unique therefore clients should be aware that this deposit is non-refundable, as it will be used to order supplies specific to your job requirements.

10. Final payment - at the end of the work a written invoice is provided which details each item, the overall amount of the job, any deposit (including interim payments on larger orders) already received and the final balance to be paid. Final payment is due upon collection or delivery/installation of the final completed item(s) - upon presentation of invoice. All goods remain the property of Susanna Blinds and Curtains Ltd until payment is received in full.

11. Returns and Refunds – all the products I make or supply are bespoke and made to measure, therefore no returns or refunds can be made apart from in the case of a fault in operation or quality (per your statutory rights).

Please note that the following tolerances apply to the products supplied and any issues relating the following are not considered faults:

a) Fabric choice – whilst I often work with customers to help them select fabrics, any choice of fabric is the ultimately the customer’s responsibility. Sometimes smaller fabric samples are not a full representation of what the fabric looks like on made up items and if a customer has concerns about this, I would recommend ordering a large sample or seeking online images that show the fabric at scale.

b) Size tolerance – the unstructured nature of fabric can mean that even with accurate measuring and cutting, there is an industry accepted tolerance for goods at the point of installation. This tolerance of + / -1cm for the width or length of blinds and a + / - 3cm for the width or length of curtains is not considered a fault against the specification provided to the customer at the point of order (this will be specified in the deposit invoice).

c) Shrinkage / expansion / distortion – environmental factors including heat, cold and humidity may effect fabric over time and cause items to spring back/up or drop in length. Fabric may also twist and distort. This is considered an intrinsic part of the nature of the materials used in soft furnishings, and as such occurrences cannot be considered a fault of manufacture. If at the time of installation, items fall within the above size tolerances, are hanging properly and are accepted by the customer, any subsequent alteration needed to rectify shrinkage, expansion or distortion will incur a cost to the customer.

d) Fading – any fabric fading caused by exposure to UV light is not considered a product fault.

e) Blackout and light bleed - whilst blackout lining provides a great deal of light blockage, there will always be some light bleed. This may be around the sides, top or bottom of the blind or curtain, or through any stitching that must be made through the blackout fabric as part of manufacture. By hand finishing all of curtains and blinds, light bleed is kept to a minimum, but it can be more visible on certain fabrics such as linens or loosely woven cottons. Any light bleed as described above is unavoidable and therefore not considered a fault.

f) Pattern - Fabric Patterns may not be straight and will often run out towards the edges of the fabric. Fabric manufacturers work within industry accepted run-off tolerances. Every endeavour will be made make them look as straight as possible and will choose whether the pattern runs out at the top, bottom or the sides depending on which looks best. Please also be aware that some fabrics do not pattern match correctly because of this run off. When this occurs, seams will be pattern matched from the top however the pattern may run out down the join. Any such pattern run offs are not considered faults.

MAKE IT SAFE : Please note that internal window blind cords and chains can pose a risk to babies and small children who could injure or even strangle themselves on looped operating cords and chains. All of our blinds are supplied with child safety devices. It is our recommendation that they are always fitted.
